June 28th Show - Yoga for Hope

It was a pleasure to speak with Michele Dionne and Tricia Madden of City of Hope, and Jenniferlyn Chiemingo, the instructor representing Seattle’s upcoming fundraiser Yoga for HopeTo recap, here are a few inspiring facts about City of Hope, one of the nation’s leading Comprehensive Cancer Centers, for our local Yoga for Hope participants and sponsors to rally around:
  • City of Hope conducts more than 300 clinical studies – involving 30-40% of its eligible patients.  The national average is less than 5 percent.
  • City of Hope has one of the top programs in hematology, prostate cancer and sarcoma in the state of California.
  • City of Hope has developed breakthroughs in cancer drugs and are responsible for the development of synthetic human insulin, which benefits millions of diabetics.
  • City of Hope has performed more than 9.000 bone marrow and stem cell transplants.
  • City of Hope is currently the only institution in the world to perform a clinical study using genetically engineered T-cells to recognize and attack glioma, a highly lethal form of brain cancer.
  • City of Hope has been awarded more than $52 million in research grants.

I’d also like to acknowledge the local studios and teachers who are behind making this an annual event – one our city and yoga community can really take pride in.

Please, if you can’t participate yourself in the event, consider sponsoring one of these teachers or other friends in the community who will be there on July 10th.  It’s easy!  To register or donate, just click visit the Yoga for Hope website.
And… given the Seattle summer we’re having – pray for sun (but not too much) Low 70’s, breezy, intermittent light clouds to offer a little sweat relief!

Blessings to all of you who will be out there on the lawn of Memorial Stadium… Saluting the Sun and the Spirit of Yoga!!!
